The drivers of higher value vehicles such as Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari and the like prefer normally to opt for repairs to take place at the manufacturer's dealer garage, which means that the client is no longer guaranteed the use of a courtesy car.

The Difference

The key differentiating feature of the policy is that it increases the cover on a standard motor policy to bring it more in line with the requirements of our clients.

The majority of motor insurers in the UK offer a ‘free courtesy car' in the event of an accident, if an ‘approved repairer' is used.

Whilst this level of cover is fine for the majority of UK drivers, our experience has clearly shown that it is inadequate for the drivers of higher value vehicles such as Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari and the like.

Owners of these brands tend not to want their vehicles to be repaired at ‘approved garages', preferring normally to opt for repairs to take place at the manufacturer's dealer garage.

A result of opting-out of the ‘approved repairer' scheme is that the client is no longer guaranteed the use of a courtesy car.

If the client does take up the insurer's ‘approved repairer' scheme, in most instances they will be supplied with a small ‘group A (1.0 litre)' vehicle, which is possibly going to be unsuitable for their work and lifestyle requirements.

Prestige Plus guarantees* the use of a prestige** vehicle for up to 14 days after any accident (includes total loss), Theft or Fire damage***

*     The client has a duty to mitigate any losses and should only opt for the replacement vehicle if they require it.

**   The definition of a ‘prestige vehicle' is any vehicle that Prestige Plus has available from the ‘premium' group as listed in
       the policy facts.

*** Replacement vehicle supplied for period of repairs (up to 14 days) or immediately if unroadworthy (up to 14 days)
